The Rodriguez Family
Rudy Rodriguez, Jackie Lane and their three sons, Jackson, Rudy Jr., and Jimmy, arrived at L.A. Family Housing's Comunidad Cesar Chavez (CCC) emergency family shelter in February of this year. Prior to their arrival, Jackie and Rudy had been separated because they could not find a shelter that would accept them and their children as a family unit. Both admit the separation was stressful and filled with anxiety. Throughout this time the children experienced their own turmoil, as they had to change schools and make new friends.During the family's time at CCC, Rudy earned a promotion at work, saved more than $2,000, and began to clean up his credit.
...................................................................The Rodriguez family was motivated and determined to change their circumstances, and were willing to do whatever it took. Rudy had shown his tenacity even prior to arriving at CCC by maintaining his sobriety and gaining employment at a supermarket. During the family's time at CCC, Rudy earned a promotion at work, saved more than $2,000, and began to clean up his credit. Jackie began receiving counseling services she felt would help her get back on track and eventually into training for a new career.
Rudy, Jackie and their three sons moved into their own apartment in East Los Angeles five months later, in July. After all they've been through, they finally feel equipped with tools and resources that will allow them to maintain independent housing and continue moving forward. Rudy and Jackie feel as though they have not yet accomplished all they can, but they definitely see themselves moving into a better future. L.A. Family Housing and its supporters have helped make their dreams come true!
