Mayor Villaraigosa Visits L.A. Family Housing
Los Angeles Mayor, The Honorable
Antonio Villaraigosa, held a press conference at our emergency family shelter,
Comunidad Cesar Chavez, in Boyle Heights last Wednesday, August 12th. He
was there to help two other charities, K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations)
and Fashion Delivers, distribute $3 Million worth of clothing and products
to shelter families and other victims of economic crisis.
The
Mayor also spent time visiting with kids and families staying at CCC. One
resident, a single mother who had lost her job, spoke at the press conference
about her story and relayed her gratitude for this and other LAFH programs.
Another family, a couple with 2 kids, spoke to KFWB reporter, Pete Demetriou,
about how impressed they were with our shelter. “It’s beautiful
here,” the mother pronounced. They were also thankful that LAFH helped
keep their family together.
