L.A. Family Housing Gala 2009
On May 7th, L.A. Family Housing held its Awards Gala 2009. The beautiful evening at the Skirball Cultural Center raised nearly $250,000 to support our mission to help families transition out of homelessness and poverty through a continuum of housing enriched with supportive services.
Guests gathered to honor Target Corporation with the "Friend of the Family" award for their generosity in giving back to the community. The Gala also included a silent auction featuring LAFH kids' photo-essays and a live auction hosted by "Shotgun Tom" Kelly of K-Earth 101 radio.
Current and former shelter residents, Paulina Kurbessoian and Jonathan Garcia spoke from the heart about their family's struggles with homelessness and of the dramatic positive impact LAFH had on their lives. Our Gala Chair was Wayne Brander, CA Region Manager of US Bank. NFL star Willie Gault served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, urging the audience contribute to LAFH to help kids like Paulina and Jonathan.
