L.A. Family Housing - Welcoming Families Home Again

Home > Events >

On May 13th, L.A. Family Housing commemorated its 25th Anniversary Celebration with nearly 400 supporters and guests. The beautiful evening at the Skirball Cultural Center raised more than $450,000 to support families and individuals transition out of homelessness and poverty. Event Chairs were Los Angeles Councilmember Tony Cárdenas and Roberto Barragán, President of the Valley Economic Development Center.

Guests gathered to recognize philanthropist and long time supporter Audrey Irmas and to thank HOWS Market for partnering with LAFH to employ over a dozen of our residents in HOWS new market in the NoHo Arts District. A video presentation and digital tribute journal provided a stirring portrait of LAFH's accomplishments over the last 25 years.

Current and former shelter residents, Ray-Shawn Turner and Bonnie Litowsky, spoke from the heart about their struggles with homelessness and of the dramatic impact LAFH had on their lives. Actress Alfre Woodard served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, urging the audience to remain dedicated to alleviating homelessness and poverty in our community.
